Profile description:

The programming language of our ERP system is COBOL, but the surrounding environment is supported by an inhouse COBOL compiler, with a layer of Java to make the system web enabled.

As C++/ Java developer you adapt our inhouse COBOL compiler and service architecture towards the specifications of Windows. You will be responsible for the development and future ports of our COBOL compiler, as well as for the interface programming in Java. You’re accustomed to applet programming in Swing, since this is the technology used as a presentation layer for our software.

Together with the team, you will investigate possibilities of new technology, like SOA enabling the system, creating webservices on top of our XML interfaces and adding more web/smart client functionality.

Your profile: 

Hard skills

  • Master or Bachelor degree in Computing Sciences
  • Solid skills in  C++ and/or Java programming
  • Experience with SQL, SQLServer and/or Oracle
  • In-depth knowledge of the Windows Service architecture
  • Unix/Posix daemon architecture
  • Memory and cache management
  • Windows/Unix networking, creating sockets, threads, etc …

Basic knowledge of:

  • COBOL
  • Compiler construction
  • Source code management
  • Parsing techniques

Soft skills

  • Result driven
  • uality minded
  • Eager to learn new tools, methodologies and technologies
